The Growth Stack for Restaurants

From touchpoints to first-party data to repeat revenue

Restaurant growth used to be a fairly simple equation:

More outlets → more customers → more orders.

But for restaurant chains today, the bigger opportunity may be sitting with the customers they already have.

India’s food-services market was valued at ₹5.69 lakh crore in 2024 and is projected to reach ₹7.77 lakh crore by 2028, according to NRAI. As the organised restaurant segment grows, the question is increasingly not just how to acquire customers, but how to make existing customers more valuable over time.

We think that requires a connected Growth Stack.

1. TOUCHPOINTS

Where guests interact

App. Website. WhatsApp. Wallet. Loyalty. QR. In-store.

The first job is to create more direct interactions with the guest.

Look at brands like Domino’s India. Its Cheesy Rewards programme had reached 23.1 million cumulative enrolments, while its app had 11.2 million monthly active users.

The lesson isn't “build an app.”

It is: Create useful touchpoints where customers choose to interact with you directly.

2. FIRST-PARTY DATA

What the brand knows

A ₹600 bill tells you what happened.

A connected guest profile can tell you much more:

How often they visit. What they order. Their AOV. Their preferences. When their frequency changes.

That's the difference between transaction data and customer intelligence.

3. CRM

What the brand does with it

  • Data becomes valuable when it changes the next action.

  • A new guest may need a second-visit nudge.

  • A regular may need a frequency-building journey.

  • An at-risk guest may need a win-back.

  • A high-value guest may need recognition rather than another discount.

This is where CRM moves from “send campaigns” to “orchestrate customer journeys.”

KPMG's India CX 2025 research found that 56% of QSR customers surveyed were likely to switch if their needs weren't met. It also identifies easy loyalty enrolment/renewal and personalised engagement as important post-purchase considerations.

4. PERSONALISATION

Make the next interaction relevant

Starbucks India is a useful example of this direction: its app combines ordering, payment, rewards, offers and personalised experiences in one customer-facing experience.

The goal isn't to send more messages.

It's to make the next one more relevant.

5. REPEAT

Where the stack becomes growth

Ultimately, the scoreboard isn't:

Open rates. Clicks. Campaigns sent.

It's: Repeat rate. Frequency. AOV. LTV.

The takeaway

The strongest restaurant growth engine isn't one feature.

It's the connection between:

TOUCHPOINTS → DATA → CRM → PERSONALISATION → REPEAT

Every interaction creates data.

Data informs the next interaction.

The next interaction creates another reason to return.

That's the growth loop.

How Fudr helps

Fudr brings these layers together for restaurant chains — connecting customer touchpoints, first-party data and CRM into one customer growth engine.
